Basic

The
idea of LCN is automation of buildings working on standard
electrical installation. It consists of modules, which are place
behind push buttons and in switch-board. All modules are connected
by normal additional vein, which is call Data vein. By neutral and
data vein modules communicate each other. So that module can send
information to another: “
"Turn on the 2nd output"
|
|

|
|
Modules work absolutely independently, they don’t have to have
additional power input, other feeders, other veins, and they always have
the same big number of functions: 2 switching outputs 2/3 independent
outputs reaching aim in application of fewer number of devices and
cables. All LCN modules, apart from sensors and switching units, have
several time programmers, regulators, threshold values.
|
Main line Multi-Master

Being a
modern system doesn’t Reed to have a main line:
All modules are intelligent enough to independently regulate the data
flow through them.
Every single module can control the main line as a “Master”
Investor can start form two modules and it is an intelligent network. We
can have a network consisting of only one module e.g. with infrared
receiver as a double light controller with memory or access control. We
can add LCN modules one, one and another and then we have a huge
buildings.
General rule is 0,5 to 3 module per room. On the lower level of main
line we can have buildings consisted of 100 rooms (maximum 400) in 250
modules. Using segment connection we can have up to 30 000 modules. This
means one million points, which the data flows from, which is more that
buildings need to have.
|
Structure of LCN
Network

Maximum
250 modules can be connected directly by three veins (Life, Neutral and
Data). They are creating one segment. As Data vein we use normal vein,
which is free in normal YDY cable. We can treat it as usual vein, and
bridges are not necessary. In big complex buildings we can connect up to
120 segments. This division we can use to distinguish different parts of
the buildings e.g. floors in skyscraper or in house and we can
communicate between those segments for example to control the lights
outside.

Addresses

-
Every module must have
it’s own address
-
To make communication
between LCN modules possible, we must have its address (form 5 to 254)
which is programmed by LCN software (LCN-PRO or LCN-P) in several
seconds.
-
Computer connects to the
network in every place
-
If several segments of
LCN are connected to main line, then segments must have numbers from 5
to 124 e.g. the lights in corridor of Kowalski’s Room will have the
address: segment=35, module=207
-
Form every place in the
network we can send telegrams to this address. If the packet must be
send to more users, then it is about group address. Every segment
might have up to 250 groups from number 5 to 254. The number of
modules in the group is not limited. Every module can belong to 12
groups.
-
Groups in LCN are
actually formed when several modules should be controlled
simultaneously
-
When we transmit from
point to point, then there is direct addressing (to module 55 –
corridor)
-
The other main point of
direct addressing: The more modules there are, the more intelligent
the system is. It is to future of installation in buildings.
|
Data transmission

In
LCN transmits 100 packets per second (in segment event form 1000 to
10000). The speed of transmission is 9600 b (segment: 300 kb…2,5 Mb).

|
Configuration

Every
module LCN “knows” its connected users and properly controls them. Bulbs
can be dimmed or glow-tube can be turned on by powerswitch. In case of
shutters we can block both outputs not to damage the shutter. It is
important that parameters of a user are written by a technician. In this
action all the commands from network the module will properly interpret,
and the users will be controlled optimally. During programming
technician informs the module, which sensors are connected to it. If
there is some push button detector, then in the field of T-Port we
should activate proper function or we can chose analog/digital converter
to measure or counting. Programming groups we give module the
information, to which groups it belongs. So form that moment it would
perform all commands that are aimed at this group. The programming is
also about the push buttons subordination.
|
Control

To LCN module we can connect push buttons
from all companies. It can be conventional or EIB push buttons. In great
buildings the tasks might be really various, so we can program LCN push
buttons. The designer or technician decides which push buttons we
install. To every control unit there is lot of possible functions to
choose, beginning from normal connection to buttons, ending on complex
user control. LCN differentiate 3 states of push buttons short, long and
leave. In these three states we can program the command, which is made
after pushing the button. It is very simple to program or parameterize.

Outputs 230 V \ control
tableau

Electronic outputs dim by displacement of life, if it is activated in
programming. The switching is when tension is changing in 0. Because
semi-conductors are placed, which we can overcharge the outputs for a
short time even five times.
Every output is controlled by two parameters:
The programmed current control and the speed of turning on (the time
reaching from 0% to 100%).Every output has its own turning on time. All
modules have the memory of 100 positions of lights for each output. The
light scenes might be change by the user by push buttons. In case of
control of lights we also have dynamic groups that can be divided in
rooms: light control fits the settings to the division of a room

Connecting with other
systems \ languages of programming

During
ten years of presence, LCN is told that it has good products, but can be
connected with other systems. It is about packets ant the other is
partnership. The other thing is the ability to connect to LCN, because
the protocol is available
